The Paperblanks Nova Stella Ultra Lined Journal provides a refined writing space in the Ultra format, measuring 175mm in width, 225mm in height and 12mm in depth. It contains 176 lined pages printed on smooth 100gsm FSC-certified, acid-free text paper. With 25 lines per page and an 8.11mm line spacing, this journal offers an ideal layout for daily writing, journaling or creative projects. The flexible softcover, cloth headbands and threaded stitching enhance durability while keeping the notebook lightweight and easy to carry.

The journal’s Smyth sewn binding allows it to open flat for a comfortable writing experience. Practical features include an elastic band closure, a back cover pouch for storing notes and keepsakes, and a ribbon marker for convenient page marking.

The Nova Stella cover design is inspired by an exquisite 1768 Roman binding from Missale Sacri Ordinis Praedicatorum, published by Octavio Puccinelli. This liturgical volume, used by priests throughout the year, showcases the decorative bookbinding style of the second half of the 18th century. Unlike earlier bindings that filled every corner with ornamentation, artisans of this era focused on creating elaborate frames while leaving the central panel with a single, meaningful object.

At the centre of the design is a medallion encircling the monogram “IHS,” topped with a cross and accompanied by a heart pierced by three nails. Though subtle, this symbol represents the first three letters of the name “Jesus” in Greek and directly connects to the book’s sacred purpose. The surrounding frame and gilded embellishments reflect the grandeur and opulence typical of 18th-century Roman craftsmanship.

For this Astra edition, Paperblanks selected a deep blue colour to enhance the celestial and luxurious feel of the original. The tone evokes the richness of velvet, the solemnity of cathedral interiors and the elegant beauty of historical liturgical art.

The Nova Stella Ultra Lined Journal offers an inspiring blend of historical artistry and modern craftsmanship, making it an ideal companion for thoughtful writing and creative expression.
